The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities.

Citizens Advice Parliamentary Group

The Group was established in Spring 2006 to offer an opportunity for Citizens Advice to raise policy and service issues of concern with interested parliamentarians. The Group also allows parliamentarians to show their support for the Citizens Advice service and stay up to date with issues affecting CAB clients. While the range of All Party Groups in Parliament continues to grow, this Group will be of particular interest to MPs, the majority of whom have a CAB in their constituency.

Chaired by Karen Buck MP, the Group currently has sixty members drawn from both Houses of Parliament and from across the political spectrum and welcomes new members. The Group holds regular meetings when Parliament is sitting. Recent meeting topics have included welfare reform, bailiff regulation, child poverty and legal aid reform.

Meetings of the Group are open to all parliamentarians and observers are also welcome to attend.
