The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities.

Health and community care

Citizens Advice regularly responds to consultations using examples of CAB clients' problems. We use this evidence to campaign for changes in policies and services.

Citizens Advice Bureaux deal with problems many relating to disability and sickness benefits.

Research has clearly established the link between low income and poor health, and most bureaux are actively engaged in benefit take-up campaigns. An increasing number of bureaux are running outreach services in health centres, GP surgeries and hospitals, and one in five run specialist mental health services.
