The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities.

Consumer and debt

Citizens Advice regularly responds to consultations using examples of CAB clients' problems. We use this evidence to campaign for changes in policies and services.

Consumer and debt problems have been increasing dramatically in recent years and these are now the largest area of problems dealt with by Citizens Advice Bureaux - over 2 million new consumer and debt problems in 2007/08.
