Social care charges and benefits

Course outline

This course is will equip advisers with the knowledge and skills to advise clients affected by care packages and charging assessments for domiciliary and residential care and supporting people grants.  

Learning objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • recognise the stages of care assessment
  • identify the principles of the charging assessment for residential and domiciliary care
  • describe the interaction of social care and benefits entitlement
  • explain the different care packages available
  • explain how home ownership is treated in the charging  assessment for residential care
