Local housing allowance

Course outline

This course is suitable for advisers with existing knowledge of the housing benefit system. It covers the background to and principles behind local housing allowance, with reference to potential social policy issues.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • explain how entitlement is calculated
  • describe how LHA claims and payments are administered
  • identify which tenants are affected
  • challenge LHA decisions
