Course outline

This course covers

  • The difficulties arising from key lifetime event

  • Identifying Benefits and Tax Credits

  • Household, Work, New Children

  • Incapacity, Disability, Bereavement and Retirement

 

Learning objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • identify the 'life events' which may trigger entitlement to benefits

  • identify benefits linked to main 'life events' such as birth, bereavement, gaining or losing employment

  • understand the main rules of entitlement to these benefits

  • find and explain the particular rules of entitlement as they relate to clients

  • be aware of some of the potential difficulties with the claims process
