Introduction to tax credits

Course outline

This course covers

  • An overview of the tax credit system
  • The rules of entitlement
  • How changes in circumstances affect entitlement
  • Assessing the effect tax credits have on entitlement to other means-tested benefits

Learning objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • explain the main rules of entitlement to tax credits
  • identify who may qualify for tax credits
  • recognise how changes of circumstances may affect entitlement
  • understand the key aspects of the tax credit calculation process
